Shave

To remove with knife or blade.
From what no distinction made.
Who put the fad in place,
to shave hair from the face?
The whole idea doesn't float,
A knife to my own throat?
Few industrial climes,
Need faces, shiny as new dimes.
A marketing call to forget,
A bearded meeting with Gillette.
Embarrassed into many shades,
When asked "How're ya fixed for blades?"
Struggled with career to save,
Last 50 years, trim not shave!
Allow me to enthuse,
over a product I don't use.
Outdoor advertising got a shot,
From a cleaver and cheeky lot.
In flocks of 6, signs sprouted,
a shaving cream was touted.
With comments and verse,
The aim was to open your purse.
I'd better quit stalling,
But I missed my calling.
