Internet material may contain: text; sound; monochrome, color, still & motion images. Other senses like smell, taste, and touch are yet to be addressed. It should be noted; LCD screens are not the best medium to display text. And it seems that most users of hand-held devices only turn up the sound for phone calls and videos.
There are videos on almost every topic. Some of them are useful; most are not. Usefulness is meeting the viewer's information needs. Unuseful videos tend to be: egocentric, gratuitous, self indulgent, self promotional wastes of electricity & time!
Only memorable, personal, and scenic images stand alone. Informational pieces require consideration of: points to be made, presentation order and camera directions (lenses, angles, distances, transitions, etc.). But you say, "A picture is worth 1000 words." Exactly which 1000 words would that be? The medium ain't the message! Just doing stuff on video won't help viewers much!
You can guess my reaction to some jerk videoing a bear eating pizza! Was the bear offered a choice of toppings? Or, what about a flock of turkeys yucking it up over a video of you scouring the woods eating berries, grass, insects, nuts, seeds & vegetation?
