Diane's Ducks
She's my wife, aw shucks,
A relationship not in flux,
Fiend of nature, the crux,
She's always loved ducks.
On with the tale we forge,
A childhood pet, George,
On Mayflies did gorge,
Not found in the old Norge.
A great personal pet,
How could we forget,
Should've been Georgette,
Was George without regret!
Careers, hers and mine,
Did just fine,
For the wild we did pine,
A few ducks, a glass of wine.
Retire by the big lake,
Not for the money to make,
For us, not a mistake,
Just to see "Mable" and her Drake.
Corn fed year long,
Her army is strong.
Bufflehead; Scaup; and Ringneck;
Mallard; Merganser (x3); and Widgeon;
Shoveler; Pintail; and Goldeneye;
Teal, green- and blue-winged.
Attracting ducks, she has the knack,
By our lake-side shack,
It's for us the right track,
To the skeptics we don't give a 'quack!'
