After ordering, the customer is emailed shipping information. This allows timely order pick up, reducing exposure to theft or weather damage. E-store transactions require customer information including: name, physical address, phone number, payment details and an email address. When an account is opened the customer's physical address becomes the primary shipping address.
Many E-stores allow delivery to alternate addresses. This permits account holders to direct ship items to friends, family, associates etc. However, some E-stores do not include email addresses in alternate address data. Without an email address alternates cannot receive delivery details. If shipping information is important to the account holder then it's of value to an alternate addressee!
A pothole in the information superhighway? Positive discussions and suggestions are in order. Create awareness and require change. We deserve better, after all we're paying for it!
